Quarantine extended in Peru due to coronavirus situation


The Peruvian authorities decided to extend the state of emergency until July 31 due to the increase in the number of people infected with the new coronavirus, the newspaper El Comercio reports. In particular, the country will remain closed borders until the beginning of August. At the same time, a number of quarantine measures will still be weakened. For example, the requirement of mandatory self-isolation will apply only to children under 14 years of age and residents of the country over 65 years of age. By June 28, 272,364 cases of coronavirus of a new type were confirmed in Peru. In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, 8,939 people have become victims of COVID-19 complications in the country. 159,806 patients coped with the disease.
