Miners rally at the office of the President of Ukraine for the third day

At the office of the President of Ukraine, an indefinite protest rally of employees of several coal mining enterprises continues, the Ukrinform news agency reported on July 2. According to journalists, about a hundred miners knock helmets and demand to pay off salary arrears, which as of July 1, 2020 is 1.2 billion UAH or $44.8 million. Protesters are also demanding the dismissal of the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services, Andriy Gerus, and a ban on the import of electricity and certain types of coal from Russia and Belarus. Recall that earlier the deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine Yulia Kovaliv at a meeting with representatives of the protesters said that debts to miners should be repaid, since the relevant decisions were made earlier.
