Zimbabwe opposition launches civil disobedience campaign

About 20,000 people unsubscribed from Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Twitter to protest the actions of the country's government. This is reported by the local news portal ZimLive. According to reporters, in this way opposition activists launched a campaign of civil disobedience. The decision to create this campaign was made by the opposition after the dispersal of a demonstration against the deepening economic crisis in the country last week. Journalists note that about 565,000 people were followers of the president on Twitter before the mass unsubscribes. Mnangagwa's spokesman, George Charamba, said the president was not concerned that fakes were no longer signed to him. The civil disobedience campaign was supported by both opposition and civil society activists who took to national protests on July 31 demanding the resignation of Mnangagwa. Earlier, the security forces have already stopped such protests.
